Birds of a feather travel in groups

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

GROUP travel has never been more popular, and for good reason:

  • Travelling with friends and family can be more fun
  • Save money with group rates
  • Potentially travel for free if you are the group organizer or leader!
  • Added amenities and bonuses, and better payment terms
  • Make memories together!

A GROUP can be smaller than you might think:  An all-inclusive or tour group can be as few as 10 people, and a cruise group is typically 16 people

Think you might have a GROUP?  Contact Me - I have experience with putting together groups for flights, cruises, mission and volunteer trips, and all-inclusive vacations (including Destination Weddings)!  I can source exactly what you need and also negotiate the best rates and amenities for your group.

E-brochures now available!

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Travel brochures are packed with useful information and pictures, and can be a great help when planning a trip.  In their traditional paper version, they are also bulky, certainly not eco-friendly, and they quickly become out of date and obsolete.   Many of my trusted travel suppliers actually produce electronic versions of their brochures, and so I added a section on my blog site to list them for you.  Just click on ‘E-brochures’ tab!

This year, insurance is more important than ever

NO, you should not travel with H1N1

YES, you can get the money back from your trip if you do cancel

I always recommend Cancellation Insurance to my clients, but with the H1N1 virus spreading so widely this year, it is especially important to protect yourself when you book non-refundable travel.

There are 2 main options:

  1. Cruise lines and tour operators usually offer their own coverage.  The benefit is that you can often cancel for any reason, but the refund is typically in the form of a future travel voucher.
  2. Comprehensive coverage through RBC, offering a cash refund when you make a claim for a covered risk, which includes contracting H1N1.

Here is an excellent article explaining this issue in more detail.

I can help you sort out your options and set you up with the insurance package that is right for you!

Conquest Ceases Operations

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

On Wednesday April 15th, one of Canada’s largest tour operators ceased operations. Conquest Vacations has been in business for 37 years and the announcement comes as a shock.

If you have a vacation booked with Conquest and have not travelled yet, you should call your credit card company immediately for a refund.  If that does not work and you bought cancellation insurance, then you should still be able to get reimbursed.  Finally, if you booked with a Travel Agent, you are are covered under the Travel Industry Council of Ontario’s (TICO) Compensation Fund, which all agencies contribute to for this kind of situation.  You can also get your money back from TICO if you booked with an agent and were stranded by Conquest and had to pay twice.
