Travel brochures are packed with useful information and pictures, and can be a great help when planning a trip. In their traditional paper version, they are also bulky, certainly not eco-friendly, and they quickly become out of date and obsolete. Many of my trusted travel suppliers actually produce electronic versions of their brochures, and so I added a section on my blog site to list them for you. Just click on ‘E-brochures’ tab!
Imagine a vacation with fresh air, plenty of exercise, open vistas and hearty meals. Imagine galloping across fields and gullies, feeling utterly alive. Dude ranch vacations offer all this and more. Earlier this year President Obama lifted the restrictions on Cuban Americans visiting Cuba, a move that many think will pave the way for opening Cuba travel to all Americans.
If and when that happens, Americans will certainly flock there in droves! The proximity (only 90 miles from Florida!), the novelty of something new, and the desire to try the ‘forbidden’ fruit will result in a huge influx of tourists. Some estimates are that a half million or more Americans could arrive in the first year, with that number growing quickly as air service and infrastructure catches up with demand.

The pod-like structure includes a king bed, a bathroom and a lounge area. It also comes with great views, a record collection, and breakfast delivered to your door.
The rub though, is that Everland is MOBILE, and make it’s temporary home in various interesting locations around the world! Currently in it’s fourth home, Everland sits on the roof of Palais de Tokyo in Paris, with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower.

At over a kilometre long and covering 8 hectares, THIS MONSTER POOL at the San Alfonso Del Mar Resort in Chile is truly a site to behold. It took 5 years to build at a cost of about $1.8 Billion, and costs over $3 Million per year to maintain. The “deep end” is over 30 metres, and it holds 250 million litres of water.The pool uses a computer controlled suction and filtration system, drawing in from the ocean at one end and pumping it out the other. The sun warms the water to 26 degrees celsius, 9 degrees warmer than the adjoining ocean.

Often a hotel is just a place to lay your head, more a means to an end than a destination. That isn’t the case at these EXTREMELY unusual hotels! My favourite is the Poseiden Resort, although at $30K US per week I don’t know how often I will be booking it!
If you are looking for a Great spot for a short family getaway, then Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls is the perfect choice! We visited in January and had a blast… could be a new family tradition. I have been getting some great rates lately (half to two thirds the listed prices!), and water park passes are included.
