Don’t let the Bed Bugs Bite!

Monday, July 5th, 2010

The Bedbug Registry exists to give travelers and renters a reliable and neutral platform for reporting their encounters with bedbugs.  These retro pests are spreading extremely quickly across several North American cities!

Bed bugs are easy to transport in luggage and very hard to get rid of.  They have become a real nuisance for hotels, who are generally not publicizing their infestations.  You can’t tell whether a building or hotel room has them based on cleanliness - the bugs can thrive anywhere there are cracks and crevices to hide in.  Until a reliable, safe pesticide becomes available, avoiding bedbug encounters will be the only reliable way to ensure they don’t spread into your own home.

Birds of a feather travel in groups

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

GROUP travel has never been more popular, and for good reason:

  • Travelling with friends and family can be more fun
  • Save money with group rates
  • Potentially travel for free if you are the group organizer or leader!
  • Added amenities and bonuses, and better payment terms
  • Make memories together!

A GROUP can be smaller than you might think:  An all-inclusive or tour group can be as few as 10 people, and a cruise group is typically 16 people

Think you might have a GROUP?  Contact Me - I have experience with putting together groups for flights, cruises, mission and volunteer trips, and all-inclusive vacations (including Destination Weddings)!  I can source exactly what you need and also negotiate the best rates and amenities for your group.

E-brochures now available!

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Travel brochures are packed with useful information and pictures, and can be a great help when planning a trip.  In their traditional paper version, they are also bulky, certainly not eco-friendly, and they quickly become out of date and obsolete.   Many of my trusted travel suppliers actually produce electronic versions of their brochures, and so I added a section on my blog site to list them for you.  Just click on ‘E-brochures’ tab!

Possible End of an Era for Canadian Travel to Cuba

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Earlier this year President Obama lifted the restrictions on Cuban Americans visiting Cuba, a move that many think will pave the way for opening Cuba travel to all Americans.

If and when that happens, Americans will certainly flock there in droves!  The proximity (only 90 miles from Florida!), the novelty of something new, and the desire to try the ‘forbidden’ fruit will result in a huge influx of tourists.    Some estimates are that a half million or more Americans could arrive in the first year, with that number growing quickly as air service and infrastructure catches up with demand.

The big question - can Cuba handle it?  (more…)

The One Room Mobile Luxury Hotel!

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Everland is more of an intriguing project than a hotel, but don’t be mistaken, it really is a hotel too!  It can be booked for a night or visited during the day.  The pod-like structure includes a king bed, a bathroom and a lounge area.  It also comes with great views, a record collection, and breakfast delivered to your door.

The rub though, is that Everland is MOBILE, and make it’s temporary home in various interesting locations around the world!   Currently in it’s fourth home, Everland sits on the roof of Palais de Tokyo in Paris, with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower.

Interested in staying at Everland? You’ll have to wait and see where it shows up next, as all remaining dates in Paris are booked!  Read more about the Everland Project here!

The World’s Largest Swimming Pool

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

At over a kilometre long and covering 8 hectares, THIS MONSTER POOL at the San Alfonso Del Mar Resort in Chile is truly a site to behold.  It took 5 years to build at a cost of about $1.8 Billion, and costs over $3 Million per year to maintain.  The “deep end” is over 30 metres, and it holds 250 million litres of water. The pool uses a computer controlled suction and filtration system, drawing in from the ocean at one end and pumping it out the other.  The sun warms the water to 26 degrees celsius, 9 degrees warmer than the adjoining ocean.

Anyone up for some laps?
