Air New Zealand First to Offer the SkyCouch

Monday, July 26th, 2010

With the First Class cabin being phased out, Air New Zealand was looking for another way to offer extra comfort on its long haul flights for those willing to pay for it.  They have found a solution with the innovative SkyCouch, which will make their debut on Air New Zealand’s new fleet of Boeing 777-300s.

Oh Canada: Something for Everyone this Summer

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Canada ranks as one of the most diverse and appealing destinations in the world, and yet we often look abroad first when thinking of a vacation.  In honour of Canada Day, we are showcasing some of the best that Canada has to offer!

British Columbia - Sea to sky and everything in between: They welcomed the world for the Winter Olympics in 2010, but B.C. has always been known for it’s epic, rugged beauty, it’s sense of adventure, and it’s and welcoming spirit.  Rollerblade in Stanley Park, shop on Granville island, do the ‘Grouse Grind’, or take a train ride through the Rockies.  There is so much to do and explore, but if you are looking for even more of a reason to visit, check out the Festival and Event Calendar and Tourism British Columbia.  This year, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, their largest music and arts event, is celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary.  (more…)

5 Tips for Booking Connecting Flights

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

In an ideal travel world, all fights would be non-stop. But realistically, that isn’t going to happen. If anything, airline cost-cutting and cutbacks mean less and less of those non-stops. Especially as airlines reduce their presence at one-time hubs. So if a connection is the only option, or the only reasonably priced option, how do you make it as painless as possible? Here are a few suggestions: (more…)

Birds of a feather travel in groups

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

GROUP travel has never been more popular, and for good reason:

  • Travelling with friends and family can be more fun
  • Save money with group rates
  • Potentially travel for free if you are the group organizer or leader!
  • Added amenities and bonuses, and better payment terms
  • Make memories together!

A GROUP can be smaller than you might think:  An all-inclusive or tour group can be as few as 10 people, and a cruise group is typically 16 people

Think you might have a GROUP?  Contact Me - I have experience with putting together groups for flights, cruises, mission and volunteer trips, and all-inclusive vacations (including Destination Weddings)!  I can source exactly what you need and also negotiate the best rates and amenities for your group.

Kid Stuff: Child Controls Air Traffic at JFK

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

04 MAR 2010:  Dad got more than a detention for this one. The Federal Aviation Administration suspended an air traffic controller and a supervisor after they permitted the controller’s elementary-school-aged child to direct air traffic at New York City’s John F. Flying to the U.S. and confused about how to pack?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Most of you are likely familiar with the limitations on taking liquids through airport security as carry on.  With each new security breach, travelling to the United States becomes more and more difficult.  To ensure that you have a smooth start to your trip, make sure to head to the airport very early, and check in with the Canadian Air Transport Authority for the latest news on what you can take through airport security.  Currently, carry-on baggage is not being accepted for flights to the U.S., however there are a number of items that are not being counted as carry-on.  Check with your travel agent of you need further guidance!

*** Update January 20, 2010: 1 carry on allowed for flights to US.

E-brochures now available!

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Travel brochures are packed with useful information and pictures, and can be a great help when planning a trip.  In their traditional paper version, they are also bulky, certainly not eco-friendly, and they quickly become out of date and obsolete.   Many of my trusted travel suppliers actually produce electronic versions of their brochures, and so I added a section on my blog site to list them for you.  Just click on ‘E-brochures’ tab!
