Planning a Destination Wedding? Here’s Where to Start…

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Costs of weddings are continually soaring, but there are exquisite and affordable options available to you! The typical destination wedding package, even with an added week for a honeymoon, often costs less than a seated dinner at the local country club. Besides being cost effective, destination weddings are very simple, as the on-site wedding coordinator takes care of all the details. Travelling to the Caribbean to say ‘I do’ also means your one special day turns into seven extraordinary days of celebration with family and friends. It is the chance to glide into married life stress-free and with a tan!

Travelonly is partnering with Signature Vacations to host a Destination Wedding Info Session, which will show you how to begin planning your tropical wedding!   We will also tell brides to be how they can join is for a weekend trip to the Mayan Riviera to check out potential wedding locations!

With the Economy Heading South, so Should YOU!

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Yes, it has been tough to watch your retirement savings take a dive over the past few weeks… however, your financial planner will tell you it is not the time to turtle, it’s the time to BUY.  Deals abound, and you better get them before Warren Buffet does.

Same goes for travel.  Americans are travelling less, and that means deals for us resilient Canadians - basic supply and demand.

Overwhelmed by resort choices? Here is a winner…

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

(UPDATE - We also stayed at this property in March 2009, and it was fantastic.  I can help with any questions on the property)

A great pick for this winter!

We were in Punta Cana earlier this month, and yes, the hotel we stayed at was fantastic.  I also toured a number of other resorts and for the most part I saw what I expected to see - some great properties on a breathtaking beach… something for everyone.

One resort in particular, though, just blew me away with it’s feel, the look and layout, and the amenities offered!   It is actually two resorts, but for business purposes only… in effect, it’s one property, and all of the amenities are shared.

What resort am I referring to?

Hola from Punta Cana! Some things I learned this week…

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

It`s been a great week so far at the beautiful RIU Palace Macao in Punta Cana!  Lisa, Keo, and I are enjoying the fabulous beaches and pools, the great food and service, and having lots of fun in the sun.  We can`t wait to come back soon!  I have also toured 15 resorts this week and have learned many things that will help my customers.

Just some of the things I have learned this week:

  • The beaches in Punta Cana are at least as beautiful as the pictures, and maybe more!
  • Hurricane season in the Caribbean can be a great time to visit.  Pricing is amazing, and there is still a lot of sun.  Yes, it is a risk, but the pricing may just make it a worthwhile one.
  • If you are bored of the buffet after a week, you probably aren`t doing it right… you don`t have to eat EVERYTHING at each meal!

Monday, August 25th, 2008

The Dominican Republic is one of the most popular Caribbean destinations for Canadians, and it is still picking up steam!   They will host over 4 Million tourists in 2008, and with a goal of 5 Million by 2012, ensuring that the infrastructure is keeping pace with the growth has to be a priority.

During a recent visit to Toronto, the Tourism Minister of the Dominican Republic, Felix Jiminez, announced investments of US$1-billion on infrastructure that will improve the tourist experience.  Among the developments that are planned: (more…)

Just returned from the Mayan Riviera!

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

In July I spent a week in Mexico on the Mayan Riviera, touring hotels and experiencing the region.  Checking out potential vacation destinations is one of the ‘tough’ parts of my job!   The Mayan Riviera is truly a breathtaking slice of heaven, and there is a hotel that is perfectly suited for everyone.

What is your priority - romance, adventure, family, food, beach?  I can help you pick the ideal resort for your vacation goals!
