Protect Yourself by Booking with a TICO Registered Agency

Did you know that you are protected when you book with a TICO registered Travel Agency in the province of Ontario?

(December 8, 2008) TICO’s Board of Directors approved payment of $75,711.98 assisting 71 consumers who did not receive the travel services for which they had paid. The payments were necessitated by the closure of five travel companies including two airlines, Aloha and Zoom.

The Travel Industry Council of Ontario is a non-profit organization mandated by the Ontario government to administer the Ontario Travel Industry Act, 2002 which governs all of the approximately 3,000 travel retailers and travel wholesalers registered in Ontario. The Travel Industry Council of Ontario’s mission is to promote a fair and informed marketplace where consumers can be confident in their travel purchases.  In addition, TICO administers an industry-financed Travel Compensation Fund.  When you book with a TICO registered Agency in Ontario you are covered under this Compensation Fund.

Travelonly is officially registered under TICO with registrant # 4316071, and contributes to the compensation fund.  Your Certified Travel Counsellor, Kevin Visser, has also completed the TICO education programs and passed the TICO Education Standards Exam.
