You don’t need to throw fitness out the plane window when you travel! Here are some ways to stay active:![]()

- PLAN AHEAD - Book accommodation with a gym, or that is at least in an area that is safe to walk. Incorporate your favourite sport into the trip (rent bikes, go golfing, or play beach volleyball). Maybe even bring a fitness DVD with you!
- PACKING – Remember to take along what you will need. Bring proper shoes, workout gear, or anything else that will help you to keep fit, and travels well.
- ON PLANES – Stretch and walk every hour to decrease muscle aches, joint stiffness, and swelling, and keep the blood flowing.
- AT AIRPORTS – Walk briskly around the terminal during your long layovers. You never know what you might find!
- LONG CAR TRIPS – When driving, stop often to stretch, and walk around rest areas. Build this into your schedule.
- TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY - Take the stairs on cruise ships, at resorts, or even at the Holiday Inn.  Walk instead of riding the shuttle. Being active in more smaller doses still goes a long way towards burning off those big meals.Â
- MAKE FITNESS THE FOCUS – How about making activity the main driver of your whole vacation? Consider a SCUBA Diving trip, a cycling or hiking tour, or one of many other options.
- DON’T STRESS YOURSELF OUT – if your schedule is tight, do what you can. Some activity is better than none.
